The event schedule is receiving its finishing touches. The events that are confirmed so far present a diverse and entertaining mix of poetic styles and interdisciplinary explorations.

Heather Haley curates Visible Verse, an annual videopoem festival at the Pacific Cinémathèque, which this year celebrated its 10 year anniversary. She will be presenting a showcase of videopoems, selected from her wide experience with this exciting, underground art form. More info

Mashed Poetics brings together spoken word and classic rock for a rip-roaring evening of electric verse. Musical and poetic collaboration create an evening filled with new work and unexpected surprises. More info

Robbie Q Telfer returns with the 2nd installment of The Vancyclopedia Show, the Vancouver edition of his much-lauded Encyclopedia Show. The topic of this installment will be: The Moon. More Info

Dub poetry hits the stage with Juno award-winning Lillian Allen. This event is conducted in conjunction with the Black Dot Roots Collective. More Info

40 of the nation’s top slammers gather for the first-ever Canadian Individual Poetry Slam Tournament. Preliminary bouts will take place throughout the week, culminating in a finals night with the ten top-scoring poets competing for the title of Canadian Individual Slam Champion. Ivan E. Coyote tells stories about her life, family, the Yukon, and her adventures in East Van. This evening of storytelling will remind you that Spoken Word encompasses much more than poetry. More Info

Two-time slam champion Mike McGee features at the 15th annual Van Slam Finals Night. Poets have been competing throughout the year to qualify for this playoff event. You’ll see the top eight poets vying for a spot on this year’s poetry slam team. More Info
